Pitch Reflection

The first two weeks of starting this project have mainly consisted of coming up with my idea, decided what I need to research and furthering my concept as well as pitching it to my teachers and getting their initial feedback on what I have come up with so far. I have already written a blog roughly explaining my initial idea and briefly what inspired me etc, but I am very sure my research will influence my idea and how I put together a plot and storyline for my horror trailer and campaign.

My pitch gave me and my mentors the opportunity to look at my idea from a critical perspective and evaluate some of my points as well as giving me more ideas on how to effectively go ahead with my research and asked some questions that I had not yet looked at from that perspective. My pitch will be linked here: Pitch (google drive.)

A few of the questions I got asked were to do with the presentation of my work, last year I used Instagram for the whole campaign including my 48 second teaser trailer. This year I intend on creating a full length trailer (1 min 30s – 3 mins roughly) and so Instagram’s limit of 1 minute videos will not be the best place to present this, I will of course do some more research into Instagram TV as I am not sure how this feature works yet but I  am considering the idea of posting the final trailer onto YouTube while still using Instagram to promote my campaign and build up to the release of my final trailer.

Another thing that was mentioned by Ste was looking into other horror campaigns and how they have utilised social media, I don’t want to go into to much detail about that right now as I think that will take up quite a large amount of my research and so I will have plenty of blogs about that over the next week or so. Looking further into campaigns is something I think I could have done better last year and is definitely something worth going into in depth.

I am very confident with this project and it seems like my tutors are too and have no doubt I can achieve what I want to if I apply my skills and knowledge.
